"April hath put a spirit of youth in everything." ― Sonnet XCVIII, William Shakespeare
Â
This morning I arrived in Aberdeen for my second trip to Scotland this year! I've been invited to participate in VisitScotland Connect, a two-day workshop filled with meetings I've curated to best serve my clients with select hotels, tour operators, and tourism offices from throughout Scotland. Afterwards, I'm hosted with other American travel advisors on a luxury familiarization trip through Aberdeenshire to Inverness, and I'm looking forward to it so much. We're staying at and visiting beautiful Scottish countryside properties like Rocpool Reserve, The Marcliffe, Glenmorangie House, Dornoch Station Hotel, Newhall Mains, Glen Mhor Hotel, and Firthside House.
Â
I'm especially excited to see the scenery and castles on our Scottish adventure including Dunrobin Castle (pictured above), one of the largest castles in the Northern Highlands with 189 rooms. We'll also go to Fyvie Castle, an 800-year-old fortress run by the National Trust for Scotland and filled with antiquities, armor, and lavish oil paintings including Raeburn portraits. I'll have some Shakespearean fun at Cawdor Castle, which was actually built after the time of Macbeth, who was made "Thane of Cawdor" in the play. Our tour finishes in Inverness, where he and Lady Macbeth conspired to kill King Duncan.
Â
A visit to Scotland wouldn't be complete without a distillery, and we'll be tasting the beers and whiskies of Uile-bheist Distillery on the banks of River Ness. We also have afternoon tea at Johnstons of Elgin and learn about their mill and 225 year history of designing and crafting exquisite luxury products of cashmere, merino woold and some of the world's finest fibers.
Â
After these wonderful experiences, I'm staying a little longer in Inverness next weekend... I'll tell you about what I've got planned in next week's Muse News before I head home. Please follow along on Facebook and Instagram to share this Scottish journey with me!
