Happy Valentine's Day, Honeymooners!

"You can never get enough / Enough of this stuff / It's Friday, I'm in love." – The Cure, Friday I'm in Love

Friday is Valentine's Day, so this is a valentine for all my sweet honeymoon clients. I'm often asked what destinations are popular right now, and the peaceful paradise of Costa Rica is often requested, by all kinds of travelers - especially honeymooners. There's something for everyone: abundant wildlife (sloths!), verdant landscapes for nature walks and waterfall hikes, volcanic hot springs, sandy beaches, rainforest discoveries, artisan crafts, and culinary delights at cooking classes and on farms for delicious chocolate and coffee.

In fact, my last two honeymoon requests have been for a tropical getaway to Costa Rica. Just last week we customized an incredible trip where the bride-to-be also has a restrictive special diet she needs to follow and wondered if Costa Rica could be possible. Working with one of my trusted local tour operators, we confirmed with the chefs at all her hotels that they can accommodate her dietary needs and will gladly welcome her. They're staying at two dreamy Virtuoso properties, starting with Pacuare Lodge, a splendid eco-hotel on the banks of the Pacuare River; one way you can arrive is by rafting the river's white waters to the lodge's shore. Its 20 suites are made with sustainably sourced wood with architecture inspired and built by the indigenous Cabécar people. At this luxuriously romantic retreat, they will get away from it all and be immersed in the magic of the rainforest.

The second half of their honeymoon is by Arenal Volcano at the five-star Nayara Gardens, a boutique hotel consistently rated one of the best and most romantic hotels in Central America. Each of the 50 rooms is a single-bedroom villa with a secluded garden and outdoor shower plus a terrace with private Jacuzzi overlooking the volcano. The spa uses the best of Costa Rica's naturally healing ingredients like coffee scrubs and volcanic mud, and dining here includes gourmet Costa Rican cuisine.

These honeymooners will also venture out to take a private Arenal Lake and Volcano Tour and a private Arenal Hanging Bridges Tour - all popular activities for my clients to Costa Rica. They already had plans to go to the beach this year and didn't want to include a beach on their honeymoon. Instead, they'll get to experience more of Costa Rica's natural wonders in the interior regions than most visitors.

I LOVE working on honeymoons, and one of my favorites ever is this summer when the couple does want to be by water and will travel on a unique, tailored itinerary from Lake Como to Corsica to Cassis. It's such a joy to help people in love travel for the first time together as a married couple, starting a new era in their lives and celebrating it with travel.

Happy Valentine's Day, travel lovers!
